From Peter’s Desk: The 2024 State of the Union

I was struck by the political tenor of President Biden's State of the Union address, and maybe you were as well.

Historically, this moment is an occasion for the president to show himself a statesman and offer an encouraging message to the nation. Instead, what we witnessed was a political attack on his opposition.

The President took his (presumptive) Republican opponent to the mat on sanctity of life issues such as abortion, in-vitro fertilization, immigration and border security, international policy, healthcare, and a litany of other problems Americans face daily.

In leveraging this politically charged rhetoric against his opponent, President Biden also condemned a broad swath of the American public who disagree with his positions on these issues.

This moment is traditionally a call to unity and progress. Instead, the President issued a provocation and chided those who do not support his agenda.

A rematch of the 2020 Biden-Trump presidential contest is now certain. The hyper-partisanship and political incivility that have characterized decades of legislating and politicking in Washington will only increase as November approaches.

The American people deserve civil and respectful political discourse among their elected officials. Congress must rediscover the practice of reaching "across the aisle" and the administration must govern in a manner that knits together a divided electorate.

The decorum and gallantry of ASP members and candidates is what attracted me to the party and to seek its presidential nomination.

The American Solidarity Party's policy positions embrace solutions that America is in desperate need of to ease the political tension and gridlock.

If you’re like me and want solutions to problems and respectful political dialogue, please help us secure ballot access and change American government.

Please share this message with like-minded voters and support our campaign through a contribution/or volunteering. The 2028 presidential election could be too late!
