From Lauren’s Desk: What is Owed to the Family

Peter and I continue to express our concern and support for those affected by the devastating flooding in the Southeast. I visited Asheville with my family seven years ago, and I can hardly comprehend the destruction I am seeing in photographs. We urge our followers to help according to their ability.

During the Vice Presidential debate (my invitation seems to have been lost in the mail!) we heard a lot of talking points about family policy as a deterrent to abortion among other things. This is a very important issue for the American Solidarity Party, which advocates for an end to partisanship in order to pass family policy that many on the left and right already agree is necessary. But the ASP also looks at issues from a grassroots level, focusing on individual communities and how they can better support families.

That’s why I’m excited to announce I’ll be hosting a discussion with Holly Coolman Taylor, a professor at Providence College and author of the recent book, Parenting, and Ivana Greco, journalist and founder of the Substack The Home Front. With their expertise I’d like to look at the issue of what is owed to the family from a whole-life approach incorporating the local and the national. I hope you’ll join me for this exciting conversation on Tuesday, October 15, at 8 p.m. Eastern.
