From Lauren’s Desk: Trump and Being Pro-Life

I've been reflecting on President Trump's recent announcement regarding abortion. After stating that abortion access should be left to the states, he concludes "you must follow your heart on this issue." And that reminded me of an experience that I had at a crisis pregnancy outreach workshop, which I attended after graduating college.

One speaker made a notable point stating that when a man says to a woman who is pregnant with his child, "I support you whatever you decide…” - he is actually being the opposite of supportive.

In this instance, the man places the burden of decision on his partner without acknowledging joint responsibility for the conception of their child. "Every woman knows what that really means," the presenter concluded.

Indeed, President Trump's remarks are those of someone who has decided to sacrifice human beings to political expediency.

He has decided to place the burden of doing what is right back on the American people, instead of wielding his public and political power with humanity and responsibility.

If we didn’t expect President Trump to roll back his previous statements on this issue (though he's already given signals on the campaign trail), now we are certain.

So, what does a pro-life vote look like this November?

There is truly only one option for the committed pro-life voter--the one who cares about the unborn, the poor, and the marginalized.

It's a vote for Peter Sonski and the American Solidarity Party.
