From Lauren’s Desk: The Conscience Vote

Peter is traveling to Illinois, Indiana, and Wisconsin this week. Wisconsin serves as a great example of how third parties can make a real impact on national elections.

In 2020, President Biden won Wisconsin narrowly by about 20,000 votes. Over 50,000 Americans voted for third party candidates despite the close results. Over 5,000 voters chose ASP over the duopoly parties.

This sent a clear message to the major parties that even in such a tight race, many people will vote their conscience. Issues related to life, caring for the poor, healthcare, immigration, and the environment matter to Americans. And they are willing to vote according to their moral understandings.

More than ever, we want Americans to be able to vote their conscience this year and to opt out of the two-party mindset. In the political climate that exists, vulnerable groups of people are exploited and encouraged to compete with one another for dignity and resources.

Achieving ballot access in as many states as possible is critical to enhancing the visibility of ASP as an option for voters. This effort requires considerable financial resources and support. We appreciate that so many of you have stepped up in the past few weeks to give. Thank you so much for your generosity and commitment to ensuring that Americans are educated on ASP’s platform and presence in the political conversation.

We must continue to build. There is a hole in the political landscape in the shape of a third party, and ASP can fill that void.

It is important to educate our family on friends on the ASP platform so that the party becomes more than a place for people to register a vote of conscience.

Conscience is most powerful when it manifests as rightly directed action. Our collective acts of conscience can change the trajectory of politics for our country, families, and therefore the global community as well.
